I have personally experienced confusion on what “setting an intention” means. I get it. It’s confusing.

Après Sessions, my holistic health coaching sessions, most certainly involve taking action. In case you didn’t know, in ski towns, après is verb.

Words don’t actually mean a thing without action behind them. People make unkempt promises (a.k.a. resolutions this time of year) to themselves, and therefore to others, all the time. So don’t even worry about that. The gold is in manifesting, which involves not only taking action, but also the intentions behind the actions.

...FEELINGS. Intentions have to do with those oh so gooey feelings we don’t always want to mess with. You can push them aside and hope they go away, but trust me they will come back, often in a very similar form creating more unrest versus peace. So. What are ya gonna do about it?

First, get clear on how you want to feel. If you met your goal, what would that feel like internally, to you and only you?

In a business relationship, perhaps you want to feel more secure. In a personal relationship perhaps you want to feel more at peace and relaxed.

Then ask WHY? Why do you want to feel these emotions versus what you currently feel?  Take some time with this. Journal about it. Put pen to paper.

Practice. This stuff doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and patience, so go easy on yourself, but be firm with yourself.

...EMBODIMENT. Next, embody the qualities you’d like to feel. Safe. Secure. Peaceful. Excited. Relaxed. Fun. Even successful.

How? Put yourself in situations that make you feel this way. This involves taking massive responsibility for yourself, what you create, whom you co-create with, and truly owning your shit so that you can shift to embodiment of the better. A simple suggestion day-to-day: do what you love.

...QUESTION YOURSELF. Why do I want that thing? Why am I expending so much time and energy on this? What am I aiming to feel by gaining that? When you get clear and realize it is rooted in your most absolute authentic self, whether that shows up as a positive or negative, then you know you have something to work with. You can trust it. And that has an absolute ripple affect toward what you really want. Why? Because we can become at peace with it, embrace it, shift it if need be, and move forward.

...TRUST. This is a big one. I can say that for me this one was, and still is, a frickin’ head banger. But with a lot of practice, it happens.

I am not talking about trusting or not trusting a family member, a partner, or an acquaintance. I am talking about trusting that everything happens as it is supposed to. I am talking about trusting timing, right timing, and that in time things fall into place whether they are what you think you need or not. It is happening to support that authenticity that you found in the above practice. The only way to find it and work with it is to get really curious, get really really gritty, vulnerable, and honest with yourself, chip away at the details, and practice practice, practice.

Trust. Breathe. Let it happen.

I LOVE talking about embodiment and utilizing the breath and shifting states, so if you wanna really geek out, please contact me.

We all stumble around and spill milk on a regular basis. That, too, is part of the process.

Let’s set some intentions.

Best to you in the new year!

In the motions and the things that you say

It all will fall, fall right into place

As fruit drops, flesh it sags

Everything will fall right into place

When we die some sink and some lay

But at least I don't see you float away

And on split milk, sex and weight

It all will fall, fall right into place
